Join Me! Communication Through Design

Why do some customers wait in line for 24 hours to buy the latest version of a certain high tech device? Why is the prospect of visiting certain business storefronts so exciting, while patronizing other retailers feels like punishment? How do certain companies and public venues create an atmosphere that encourages customers to visit frequently and linger? What is that mysterious “X Factor” that draws us subconsciously to certain businesses, and makes us feel good when we’re there? These are the questions my colleagues and I set out to explore when planning our 2nd annual Business Toolkit Workshop slated for October 16, 2015 from 8am-1pm.

With a perpetual afterglow from the success of last year’s Business Toolkit event and in partnership with my dear friends at MidAmerica Nazarene University, the Olathe Chamber of Commerce and the Olathe Public Library, I’ve been busy planning our event and couldn’t be more excited! Our theme this year is “Communication Through Design: Design. Inspiration. Motivation.” We have an amazing line up of speakers and panelists – experts from a broad range of disciplines such as industrial design, graphic arts, marketing, technology, architecture, professional sports, maker venues and more – who will present both visionary ideas as well as practical applications of design as a means to attract, retain and engage customers.

Attendees will leave the workshop with a better understanding design, and an arsenal of useful ideas for implementing good design to grow their businesses and bottom line.

If you are interested in gaining more customers, building brand loyalty, and ultimately creating raving fans, this event is for you! Information shared during the workshop will apply not only to those in the for-profit world, but also to those who work in non-profit and governmental organizations. Entrepreneurs, business owners, executive leaders and board trustees, government officials and staff, sales representatives, computer programmers, business students and professionals from many other disciplines are encouraged to attend.  And, of course, there will be some great Networking!!!

In addition to the presenting sponsors I mentioned above, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give an early shout out with my humble appreciation to our fabulous community partners at Enterprise Bank, Garmin and VML for their financial support; and to our wonderful in-kind sponsors Panera Bread, Regency Coffee & Vending and Sir Speedy.

If you are in the Kansas City Metro, please join us! If not, please look for future posts from me with summaries of what our experts have to say.
