A Fresh Perspective

Sometimes, to get a fresh perspective, we need to change up your environment.  That might mean simply getting up from your desk and taking a walk around the block.  Essentially, getting out of your box can help you to see things with fresh eyes, generate fresh thoughts, come up with fresh ideas.

The journalist, Robert Wieder, says, “anyone can look for fashion in a boutique or history in a museum. The creative explorer looks for history in a hardware store and fashion in an airport.”

By way of example, when my friend, Veronica, needs to clear her head or think about complicated projects in new ways, she will sometimes take herself and her kids “away” on a “staycation.”  That typically means asking her neighbor to watch the dog, finding a local hotel with an indoor pool and hot tub, ditching her laptop, ordering a pizza, snuggling up with a bowl of microwave popcorn and a good movie.  She says that not having to make the bed, cook dinner, do the dishes, or answer a bunch of email is sometimes all she needs to reset, feel refreshed and return with ideas and energy for getting done what she needs to.

The idea is to look at the world from a different point of view, to leave your comfort zone, and to consider things in new ways to identify new possibilities.  What will you do?  Where will you go?  Who will you talk with to get a fresh perspective?

Happy Networking!
