I started this month of daily posts (NaNoWriMo the CLC way!) honoring Creative Think’s founder, Roger von Oech, by asking you to “whack your thinking.” That is, to “jolt [yourself] out of habitual thought patterns that prevent you from looking at what you’re doing in a fresh way.” Well, if you’ve read any or all of these November posts, you did it! In fact, whenever you achieve a goal, it is cause for celebration. My favorite healthy lifestyle app, Noom, invites us to “treat ourselves” when we achieve goals. Suggested rewards include things like…
- Self-care rewards like taking a bubble bath, reading a good book, watching a movie, meditating, or getting a massage.
- Social rewards like attending a concert, going for a picnic, hosting a party, or a night out on the town.
- Healthy rewards like taking a new workout class, signing up for a cooking class, getting a new reusable water bottle or yoga mat, or having a photoshoot.
So, go on, give yourself a pat on the back. Do something to treat yourself. And, now, as Roger would say, go out and earn another one.
