It’s been said that fear is among the most powerful of emotions. We can let it paralyze us, keeping us from pursuing our ambitions. This is certainly true when it comes to establishing and building meaningful relationships.
Too frequently, we allow our fear… fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of saying the wrong thing… keep us from engaging with other people. My hope is to encourage you to slay that dragon! Overcome your fears about connecting with others.
As creative genius, Roger von Oech, points out, long ago, cartographers sketched dragons on maps. They were intended to signal to sailors that they may be entering dangerous waters, unknown territory. As a result, the crew should carry on at their own peril. Those who were afraid to venture on, turned around… those who saw the dragons as a sign of opportunity were often rewarded with new discoveries, new opportunities, new chances for advancement.
So, I ask you, what dragons are blocking your path? Are you allowing them to hold you back? How will you eliminate them so you can enhance your relationship base? Who will you reach out to today? What is the worst that can happen? Slay those dragons!
Happy Networking!
