TGIF! You know what that means – the weekend has arrived, bringing with it the promise of relaxation, leisure, and quality “me-time.” As the week comes to a close, we often find ourselves yearning for that moment to unwind, to escape the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. And what better way to do that than by immersing ourselves in the captivating world of movies and TV shows?
As a recent fortune told me, “a good movie will inspire you to reach for the stars.” Indeed, a good show can transport you to new realms, make you laugh, cry, and ponder the intricacies of the human experience. Sometimes, all you need is a quiet evening, a cozy couch, and a screen to escape to far-off places or engage you in an unforgettable narrative.
The prospect of cooking in, curling up on the couch, and binging on a good show sounds incredibly appealing. It’s an opportunity to decompress, let your mind wander, and rejuvenate for the week ahead. It’s a chance to feed your soul and find inspiration in the stories being told on-screen.
BUT… you have to earn that time! I am suggesting that you learn about all those juicy, binge-worthy programs by first engaging in a few meaningful interactions and networking. With that in mind, one of my favorite conversation starters is this: “What are you watching on Netflix right now?” (or Prime or AppleTV or Hulu or Disney Plus or Peacock or whatever video platform you choose!) Whether you’re catching up with a friend, meeting a new acquaintance, or attending a professional event, this question can open doors to interesting dialogues. Everyone has a favorite show or movie, and sharing your current viewing habits can lead to shared interests, recommendations, and the discovery of common ground.
In a world where connection and conversation are more important than ever, discussing your latest Netflix obsession can be a bridge to deeper connections. It’s a reminder that even in our digital age, we find joy and meaning in shared stories and experiences.
So, as the weekend approaches, don’t forget to indulge in a little screen time. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of movies, and when Monday comes around, you’ll feel recharged, inspired, and ready to reach for the stars – both in your personal life and in your networking endeavors.
Happy binge-watching, and may your weekend be filled with delightful surprises and thought-provoking tales! Happy Networking!
P.S. – So, what are you watching right now? Be sure to leave your list in the comments.
